Surgical Video Summarization

While surgical videos are valuable support material for activities around surgery, their summarization demands great amounts of time from surgeons, resulting in the production very few videos. We study practices involving video to motivate and inform future design tools summarization. Through interviews observations a field study, we find that (1) summaries provide an important being used self-improvement, education, discussing cases, scientific research, patient communication as legal resources; (2) follows process hindered by loss knowledge originates during recording; and, (3) surgeons develop ad-hoc coordination strategies which involve using itself articulation work, making it both work artifact. discuss ways can facilitate capturing live action these strategies.
